In La Clusaz, a hill reservoir project, supported by the town hall, threatens the Bois de la Colombière which is home to 58 protected species, in the direct vicinity of a peat bog. This project aims to pump spring water to supply the snow cannons of the ski resort. For the inhabitants, quickly joined by supporters from further afield, it is impossible to let this project from another time take place.
In the fall of 2022, the La CluZAD collective set up cabins in the spruce trees to ensure that the work did not start. For a month, the occupation protected the wood, made it possible to forge strong links between different worlds, but also to experiment with other ways of forming society.
On October 25, the administrative court of Grenoble ruled in favor of the associations (of which FNE is a part) which requested the suspension of the authorization for the work. An important first victory which, although not final, shows the power that the joint action of legal remedies and civil disobedience offers - and invites us to dream bigger.
